B.F. Environmental Launches Online Training Portal Cyber Monday Sale

B.F. Environmental Launches Online Training Portal
As landscape for education changes, company stays ahead with new offerings

WILKES-BARRE, PA—August 14, 2017—B.F. Environmental Consultants, an environmental consulting firm providing a range of services throughout the Northeast, announced today the launch of an online training portal designed to meet the continuing education needs of engineers, geologists, and other professionals. Through the new portal, professionals can find thousands of online classes that meet their continuing education requirements. The site is called Training Pros.

“There are a host of new educational tools available to today’s professionals, but there was no central location through which to find these offerings,” said Brian Oram, a professional geologist and soil scientist and founder of B.F. Environmental Consultants. “Now, tens of thousands of classes, workshops, seminars and other educational opportunities can be found with a simple web search on our new online training portal.”

In addition to being a working environmental professional with his own consulting firm, Oram was a university instructor for 26 years. He developed Training Pros to serve as an online university that could be an affordable alternative to the normal workshop training courses or continuing education offerings that most professionals must attend in order to maintain their professional certifications and licenses.

“Our goal is to provide a cost-effective solution for training and educating our future workforce,” Oram said. “Our library with its variety of online courses provides a comprehensive and diverse set of offerings that meet continuing education requirements for the professional, contractor, or for use as part of a company’s workforce development/ employee training programs. Conventional training programs can be expensive and time consuming. Our online training programs link the professional to appropriate educators at an affordable price to provide the necessary training in the most convenient manner.”

Training Pros can be found online at http://www.online-training-courses.info.

B.F. Environmental Builds Expertise into New Water Quality Mobile App

Company experts have developed a new tool that will help families stay healthy

WILKES-BARRE, PA—August 10, 2017—B.F. Environmental Consultants, an environmental consulting firm providing a range of services throughout the Northeast, announced today the launch of a new mobile app that will make it possible for homeowners to get answers about the quality of their drinking water. Brian Oram, a professional geologist and soil scientist and founder of B.F. Environmental Consultants, developed this new diagnostic tool, called “Know Your H2O?”

“Consumers have fully embraced mobile technologies. If we want to help them, we’re going to have to make our information available to them through their IOS and Android devices,” Oram said. “This new app will put actionable information about water quality into the hands of homeowners all across the country. I’m very proud of this new product.”

Know Your H2O? relies heavily upon the massive online water quality resource the company has made available through the launch of its Water Research Center website. The first version of the software helps consumers diagnose potential water quality problems by exploring aesthetic problems, physical problems, health concerns, or specific problems in their homes. The app is supported by additional content that is directly linked to the Water Research Center.

“This tool helps consumers diagnose problems, but then goes beyond that to provide recommendations for further testing or corrective action,” Oram said. “The app is based on a holistic approach and is guided by concerns about our water, homes, and health. It is a comprehensive tool that can be used by any homeowner, building inspector, water quality professional, or water treatment professional to diagnose a problem and determine next steps.”

Pennsylvania Continuing Education Requirements for Professional Geologists In Effect for 2011-2013 Renewal Period

This is not my work- but a reposting from the Professional Association.

GOVERNOR SIGNS ACT 25 REQUIRING 24 CE CREDITS

Continuing Education Requirements for Professional Geologists In Effect for 2011-2013 Renewal Period
On May 12, 2010, Governor Rendell signed Act 25 of 2010 into law. Act 25 amends the Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologist Registration Law to clarify mandatory continuing education ("CE") requirements. Section 4.5 of Act 25 requires that a licensee complete 24 professional development hour ("PDH") units during the biennial renewal period as a condition for licensure renewal. One PDH equals 50 minutes of instruction or presentation relevant to professional practice (except for practice building or office management). Up to 12 excess PDH units can be carried forward to the next licensure period.
Section 5 of Act 25 requires that a licensee begin to comply with the continuing education requirements during the current (2009-2011) renewal period and provides that the licensing board may begin denying licensure renewals during the 2011-2013 renewal period to any licensee that fails to accumulate the required 24 PDH units.

In an e-newsletter sent to licensees on May 14, 2010, the State Registration Board for Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists initially indicated it did not intend to deny licensure renewals beginning in the 2011-2013 renewal period. However, in a special notice posted to the Board's website on May 28, 2010, the Board reversed its position, advising that the May 14, 2010 information is out of date and should be disregarded. The Board now advises that 24 PDH units will be required, "no ifs, ands or buts," by the September 30, 2011 renewal cycle.

To ease the implementation of mandatory CE requirements for the 2011-2013 renewal cycle, the Board has decided to grant a moratorium from disciplinary action for anyone who has not completed all 24 PDH units by September 30, 2011, provided any and all PDH unit deficiencies are made up by April 1, 2012. The Board also advises that any licensee failing to make up the PDH unit deficiencies by April 1, 2010, will face disciplinary action. Also, deficiency credits will not be double-counted for purposes of meeting the 2011-2013 renewal period CE requirements.
Any CE credits you have earned since October 1, 2009 go towards your 2009-2010 renewal period requirements. If you haven't yet started accumulating your mandatory CE credits, we urge you to start now. Visit PCPG's website at http://www.pcpg.org/ today and check out PCPG's available course offerings. Also, licensees are responsible for maintaining records sufficient to demonstrate compliance with the CE requirements. Keep your course certificates in a safe place.
PCPG plans to offer an additional 12-15 seminar courses between now and September 30, 2011, with most if not all courses qualifying for CEU/PDH requirements. You will begin to see new courses being added to the PCPG Upcoming Courses and Events page on a weekly basis, and registration will open as details are finalized.

PA Professionals Continuing Education -Implementation of Continuing Education Requirements Delayed

"Implementation of Continuing Education Requirements Delayed
by Board Counsel Thomas A. Blackburn

At its November 2009 meeting, the board voted to delay implementation of mandatory continuing education until the 2011-13 license renewal period.

Act 170 of 2006 amended the Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologist Registration Law to require each licensee to complete mandatory continuing education (CE) during each biennial renewal period. Act 170 also authorized the board to promulgate regulations to implement the CE requirement.

The board initially anticipated that mandatory CE would first be required during the October 2009 through September 2011 renewal period.

Following consideration of comments received in response to an exposure draft and in-house review, the board published proposed rulemaking on May 2, 2009. Many, many licensees commented on the proposed rulemaking.

The board delegated consideration of these comments to its continuing education committee, along with comments received from the House Professional Licensure Committee and the Independent Regulatory Review Commission.

In reviewing these extensive comments, the board and the committee realized that implementation of mandatory CE is not practical for the 2009-11 renewal period. Therefore, the board voted to delay implementation until the 2011-13 renewal period.

What this means is that the board will not require licensees to complete any continuing education during the 2009-11 renewal period. However, licensees will be education during the 2011-13 renewal period in order to renew in September 2013. What this means is that the board will not require licensees to complete any continuing education during the 2009-11 renewal period. However, licensees will be required to complete the full amount of continuing education during the 2011-13 renewal period in order to renew in September 2013.

At the March 2010 meeting, the continuing education committee reported to the board with recommended final regulations, which the board approved.

The board anticipates that it will deliver final rulemaking later this year so that the regulation may be finally promulgated by winter 2011. That will give licensees and providers at least six months advance notice to begin compliance with the CE requirements.

The board will provide updates in the promulgation of this rulemaking."

Six Sigma Training Program available in Pennsylvania and online

Six Sigma Green Belt Certification  - I studied Kung-fu for about 15+ years - I never throught about getting a Green Belt Certification in management.  This information on an management training course that I think is great.

Six Sigma is a Quality Improvement methodology structured to reduce product or service failure rates to a negligible level (roughly 3.4 failures per million opportunities). To achieve six sigma levels, the Six Sigma process encompasses all aspects of a business, including management, service delivery, design, production and customer satisfaction. Six Sigma companies typically spend less than 5 percent of their revenues addressing and repairing quality problems.
As a philosophy Six Sigma drives business culture and requires a nearly flawless execution of key processes making Six Sigma a high standard for companies and individuals to achieve. Customers place a high value on predictably consistent business processes and Six Sigma is a proven methodology for delivering consistent incremental improvement. By reducing process variation Six Sigma frees the organization to focus on improving process capability and as sigma levels increase, the cost of poor quality decreases and profitability increases. This is why Six Sigma is highly associated with the delivery of consistent world-class quality. The Six Sigma Greenbelt online program provides an overview of the Six Sigma concepts and tools including Six Sigma deployment practices, project development, and the DMAIC problem-solving approach.
